Smoky Chipotle Burgers
Have you ever gone on google and just searched for a simple food, such as burger and clicked on images? I do that sometimes for inspiration… and this is what I came up with last week; tons of veggies with the burger piled high with a delicious sauce! This time I went with my Chipotle Mayonnaise (hot! Hot! Hot!)….yum!

I present a healthy and hearty homemade beef burger piled high with caramelized onions and my spicy chipotle Mayonnaise! Naughty, made nice!
This is what you’ll need
1 Batch of my go-to Beef Burgers
1 Batch of my Chipotle Mayonnaise
Caramelized onion:
½ tbsp butter
4 Large onions, sliced in half moons
Salt
Add the butter to a large pan and heat over medium high heat.
When it’s hot and the butter has melted, add the onions and season with salt, mix well ensuring the onions are coated in the butter.
Continue sautéing at this temperature until you see the onions are starting to brown (about 10 minutes).
When the onions are starting to brown, drop the heat to low and allow them to caramelize for about 30 minutes, up to an hour (low and slow).
4 Whole wheat burger buns, toasted
4 Leaves of red leaf lettuce
1 Medium tomato, sliced
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
This is what you do
Prepare the burgers, mayonnaise and caramelized onions as the recipes outline.
To serve, place the lettuce and tomato on the bottom bun, season the tomato with salt and pepper. Then top with the cooked burgers. Then put some onion on the burgers and top them with some of the mayo.
Top with the top bun and serve immediately!
- You can adjust the beef burgers to turkey or chicken burgers as the recipe notes.
- You can top with any garnish and sauce(s) of your choosing.
