The Inspiration
Swedish-ish Meatballs
I was craving meatballs. Swedish meatballs but I was so tired. I almost broke down and ordered pizza but I wanted this gravy!!!
Swedish meatballs in homemade gravy, served over egg noodles… ready in about 30 minutes 🙂
This is how you make it:
Dissolve one beef bouillon cube in 1 1/2 cups boiling water.
Set aside to cool then add the Worcestershire sauce a Dijon Mustard; mix well.
Brown the beef in a large frying pan over medium-high heat; season with salt and pepper.
Strain the meet once it’s cooked then return it to the pan.
Add the cremini mushrooms and onion; season with salt and pepper.
Sauté for 5-7 minutes , until the onions are soft and translucent and the mushrooms have given off their water.
Place a large pot of water to boil then cook the egg noodles according to package directions.
Add the garlic to the beef mixture, mix for about 30seconds, careful not to let the garlic burn.
Give the beef broth a quick mix then add to the beef mixture; mix well.
Whisk the milk and flour together to create a slurry then add it to the boiling beef mixture – this will thicken the sauce.
Boil until the sauce is thick then stir in the peas and again, season with salt and pepper.
The noodles should be cooked by now, drain and transfer them to a large serving platter.
Top the noodles with the beef mixture.
Taste and adjust seasoning.
Serve immediately 🙂
