Double Cheeseburgers
I wanted to create a fantastic veggie burger to share with the world. Then it dawned on me; vegetarian burgers are only good if you’re vegetarian. I’m not vegetarian. In the event I’m digging a “meatless Monday dinner”, I pretty much guarantee I won’t be reaching for a veggie burger – ever.
Why such passion you ask? I don’t see veggie burgers as healthy substitutes for the real thing because they are jam-packed with starchy carbs and then packaged in a carb-ladened bun. Well I could always serve it on lettuce I suppose but I’m pretty sure that if I were to serve veggie burgers on lettuce that the next thing to happen would be mike taking the kids to McDonald’s, leaving me to eat 4 lettuce veggie burgers.
Yes, beef has more saturated fat but fat melts!
Here instead is a healthier beef burger recipe that is tried, true and amazing!!!

There’s really nothing like a cheeseburger, well there’s a double cheeseburger 😬
HEALTHY! No added fat, tastes like take out but it’s healthy and has no added fat….
It takes 3-4 minutes to cook.
I’m serious.
Plus these burgers are freaking delicious.
Did I mention easy too?!?

Double Cheeseburgers

Description
A super-simple home made double cheeseburger recipe that comes together in minutes, with no added fat and it tastes exactly like take out!
Ingredients
453–500 g/around 1 lb extra lean ground beef
Salt
Pepper
4 Burger buns (store-bought will work too)
4 Slices of cheese (I just used cheese slices)
Lettuce
Tomato
Mushrooms
Any other toppings of your choice
Instructions
Measure out a ¼ Cup of the ground beef and roll it into a ball.
Lay it on a piece of wax paper and then top it with another piece of wax paper then flatten the patty (about 1/8 inch thick).
Season the side facing up with salt and pepper.
Preheat your frying pan to high heat and then place the patty seasoned side down into the pan; season the side facing up as well.
Fry on high for 1-2 minutes, until the edges are charred and you see the red juices coming out.
Flip the patty and cook for another minute.
You can work in batches if you prefer.
Wipe the pan with a paper towel in between batches and drop the heat to medium-high if need be; you want a high heat to char the patties similar to a griddle but you don’t want a grease fire.
You’ll need 2 cups of ground beef to get 8 patties to make 4 double burgers (I put a cheese slice in between the beef slices).
To serve, top with your favourite garnishes, I went with lettuce, tomatoes and fresh mushrooms on a toasted bun.
Notes
Feel free to add bacon… not the healthiest but oh man is it good!!!
