Deluxe Cheeseburgers

Deluxe Cheeseburgers

I have take-out on the brain, on the regular; so here I present my recipe for Deluxe Cheeseburgers 🙂

Take-out is easy

Take-out is delicious

but Take-out is expensive and..

its not so good for your health or your waistline.

Why oh why, is junk food so delectable?  Perhaps it’s the work of the devil.  Okay, yes I know that’s ridiculous and yes I’m well aware that there are psychological, biological, anthropological explanations but in my case… its gluttony 🤷‍♀️, lol just kidding.

I find inspiration from take-out favourites because they are that good!  I mean how many times has “copy cat” Big Mac sauce been googled!?!

Because I love cooking and I love healthy eating I try to make my heathy food taste decadent; that’s my tagline after all;

LisaGCooks.com – Naughty Food Made Nice!

So I posted my:

recipe last month and it inspired me to do more with it.  Honestly all you’re doing is frying the beef at high heat and then seasoning it with salt and pepper.  This can easily be done for 1 person or 10.  And realistically these patties are super lean and therefore a healthier option.

So I set out to build on this original recipe.

I wanted to incorporate my:

French Onion Mayonnaise

because it’s gloriously delicious with so many possibilities but I never use it!  I published it like 5 years ago and there it sits; on my virtual shelf.  I love coming up with condiments and sauces because they really take all foods to the next level.

This mayonnaise is next level.

This burger is next level

I added my favourite toppings; lettuce and Tomatoes.  You should set out to eat tomatoes at least once a day – your skin will thank you.

Then I turned this into a cheeseburger because well, cheese makes everything better!  Used in moderation, cheese is perfectly doable in a healthy lifestyle.  Now you can feel free to go with real cheddar or even Swiss or Gouda cheese but I was all in with my processed cheddar cheese slices 😎

To take it, yes you guessed it, to the next level, I added sautéed cremini mushrooms.  I can’t tell you how glorious sautéed mushrooms are on burgers.  They make the burger taste and feel way more gluttonous than they are.  If you’ve never tried them, please do because you’re missing out.

So yes, while take out and burgers tend to be on the less-tan healthy side there are ways to lighten them up at home and you don’t need a million fancy recipes or tons of specialized equipment.

Here I present lightened up burgers that can be ready in about 10 minutes at home – way father than delivery 🙂

I do believe this recipe will work with ground chicken or turkey but I haven’t tried it.  Personally I think ground chicken and turkey are gross – they add the skin and its really terrible for you.  Anyway if you choose to byway of the chicken and turkey you’re going to need to add oil to the pan because the poultry doesn’t have enough fat to make this work without sticking to the pan – again, I haven’t tried it though.

This is how you make Deluxe Cheeseburgers at home:

Preheat a nonstick skillet to high, add the butter.

When it’s melted, add the mushrooms; season with salt and pepper.

Sauce until the mushrooms are darkened and delicious; set aside.

Wipe the pan clean with a cloth and return the pan to hight heat.

Roll the meat into 4 or 5 even-sized balls.

Place the balls into the very hot pan and immediately flatten them, as thin as you can get them (I used a strong spatula).

Season liberally with salt and pepper.

Flip the burgers after 2-3 minutes, when there’s a yummy darkened crust; season this second side with salt and pepper also.

Transfer to toasted buns when the meat is cooked through (about another 2 minutes after they’re flipped).

To assemble; bun, lettuce, tomato, beef patty, cheese, mushrooms, and finally… French Onion Mayonnaise, to taste 🙂

Ooey-gooey delicious; its already falling apart.  Definitely need two hands and a few napkins.

The tomato was trying to escape.

Its sooooo yummy.

Here’s another shot…. it looks good 😎

If you’re not feeling the:

French Onion Mayonnaise

You could try:

Mayonnaise

or

Tex-Mex Mayonnaise

or…

Chipotle Mayonnaise

or….

Jalapeno Mayonnaise

Well, you get the idea!

When I served this I also made:

Potato Wedges (Wedgies!)

but you could also go with:

oooooh and you could totally serve more of the:

French Onion Mayonnaise

to dunk.

That’s the official term by the way!

Dunk.
