Homemade Pepperoni Pizza

Here I present my recipe foe Homemade Pepperoni pizza, here I’ll explain the inspiration and the how-to of this dish 🙂

Wow, I’m coming up on the 10 year anniversary of my blog!  I still have a ton to learn.  I’m good with content but like most amateur bloggers I don’t really know how to drive to traffic to my site.  I know there are people you can hire who can help but last time I did that they broke half of my permalinks which basically set me back to zero.  Also it’s expensive, we have two kids and a mortgage; real life at its best 🎈

There are websites who are really happy to capitalize on your ambitions though 🤣🤣🤣

I must give a shout-out to food bloggers central though; Nagi has provided all the tips and tricks for free which is ah-mazing 💙

Where has the time gone?

It also doesn’t really help that I’m shy and scared of failure.  It took me years to share my website with people.  I felt vulnerable.  It would really upset me if someone were to say it was bad or silly.   That was 10 years ago though – as I’ve gotten older I don’t care what anyone has to say about me.

When I showed my friend Jen my website she said I was crazy if she thought I was going to a working mom who’d make homemade pizza for dinner on a work night/school night… but I do it.  The dough comes together in 5 minutes… as it rests/proofs I get other stuff done.

Crazy announcement; I’m joining the party super late but I’m starting a LisaGCooks.com YouTube channel!  My kids are all about YouTube and have promised they’ll help 💜

Maybe I’ll show Jen just how easy it is to make a homemade 🍕 after work 😎😎😎

I’ll make this pizza; ooey-gooey pepperoni pizza.

This is how you make it:

Prepare your dough

Turn it out onto a floured counter, once it’s ready and shape/pull it into a rectangular shape – I poke it with my fingertips.

Transfer it to a baking sheet, folding it in half twice; match the top left corner to the centre of the pan.

Let the dough rest.

Preheat your oven to 375.

Prepare your sauce.

Grate your cheese.

When your oven is preheated, add the sauce to the dough, reserve a 1/2 inch around the border – full batch of sauce if you like it saucy to 1 cup sauce, if you don’t!

Top evenly with the mozzarella, then the parmesan.

Top evenly with the pepperoni – yes, all of it!!

Transfer to your oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

It’s soooo yummy!

Enjoy…

You earned it…

A healthy, homemade pepperoni pizza recipe with do-it-yourself pizza dough and pizza sauce; it costs about $6.00 to feed a hungry family of 4 🙂

The Ingredients:

Roma La Pizzeria Mild Pepperoni

This is the brand I use. I throw half the pack in the freezer then the other half is enough for 2-3 pepperoni pizzas (I use half and half but were crazy pepperoni fans).

Again, I go with Great Value brand all the time;

Great Value Pizza Mozzarella Cheese

At Walmart they always have “multi-saves” so I buy 2 of these cheese bars for $9.00 CAD…

Again… Canadian 🇨🇦

Great Value Original All-Purpose Flour

and…

Fleischmann’s Quick Rise Instant Yeast

I went into detail for my sauce recipe:

Copycat Pizzeria Sauce

it’s my favourite pizza sauce!!!

Final Thoughts

That conversation with Jen happened around 9 years ago and it stuck with me.  More and more parents – not just mother’s have been tasked with what seems impossible.  When I look at recipes in cookbooks from 40 or 50 years ago – they were written when women didn’t work.  The man left the house around 8:00 after eating a hot breakfast, got to the office for 9:00 then was home at 5:30 where his loving wife had a martini waiting for him while dinner finished cooking.

This isn’t reality anymore.  I’m sure there are still stay-at-home parents; good for them…  can’t afford it!!!

I have no idea how single income families are surviving these day, just a regular trip to the grocery store is becoming harder and harder.

So with I promise I’ll keep my recipes humble and realistic.

We’re in this together.

I’ll post here when my YouTube channel is functioning… wish me luck 💙
