Ground Beef Stir fry with a Teriyaki-Hoisin Sauce

Here I present my recipe for Ground Beef Stir fry with a Teriyaki-Hoisin Sauce; an easy, yummy recipe for a lean ground beef stir fry with crunchy veggies in a homemade Teriyaki sauce with Hoisin sauce!

The Idea

I’d never had a stir fry with ground beef.  I wasn’t even sure it was a thing.

It is.

Ground beef was on sale and I wanted something new.

I was inspired by Pinterest and YouTube.

I liked the idea of a brown sauce but I absolutely love my Teriyaki Sauce recipe so I knew I had to go with that.

Hoisin just takes this recipe to the next level.

This is how you make it:

Combine the ground beef with 2 tbsp of the soy sauce and the egg; set aside for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile prepare the Teriyaki sauce by whisking together the remaining 4 tbsp/1/4 cup of the soy sauce, the brown sugar, garlic, ginger, water and cornstarch until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.

Add the canola oil to a wok or a large frying pan over high heat, when the pan is hot (the oil will ripple) add in the celery, red pepper, yellow pepper, onion and tomato; season with salt and pepper.

Sauté over high heat for 4-5 minutes until the veggies are softened and slightly charred.

Transfer the veggies to a bowl and return the pan to medium-high heat.

Add in the beef mixture, breaking it up with a spoon and brown until completely cooked through.

Give the teriyaki sauce a quick mix then add it to the beef mixture.

Let the sauce come to a boil and thicken.

Add in the Hoisin Sauce; mix well.

Return the veggies to the pan, mix well and let everything cook together for a few minutes.

Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

I served this with 2 cups of cooked rice with 1 cup of frozen peas mixed in but you can serve this with noodles too.
