Oven Baked Burgers

We had the crappiest spring!!!  Never mind the impending zombie apocalypse where I don’t know about you, but I was waiting for the locusts.  I seem to recall a body of water turning red too 🤔

Anyway it was cold and Mike didn’t want to bbq in the snow in may.  Yes may.

So I endeavoured to make THE most amazing oven baked burger patties because now more than ever  when life hands you lemons 🍋 you need to make lemonade (and freeze it just in case the stores run out of food again).

There really does seem to be a new way to life these days, don’t you think?

This is an incredibly simple, healthy burger recipe that comes together in minutes and melts in your mouth.  They can be made year-round and don’t need a BBQ!

Grab a baking sheet and lay a cooking rack on top of it.  If you have, spray some cooking spray on the rack to make clean up a little bit easier.

Portion and shape into equal-sized patties (I do 6 because we like to have bigger burgers).

Lay the patties on the rack.

Bake for 20 – 25 minutes; I do 22 minutes for the larger burger patties.

Description

This is an incredibly simple, healthy burger recipe that comes together in minutes and melts in your mouth and can be made year round!

Ingredients

Scale

3 slices whole wheat bread, broken into chunks

1/41/2 cup milk

10 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 large egg

1/2 onion, sliced into sticks

1 tsp Montreal steak seasoning

600 g lean ground beef

Buns/lettuce/condiments to serve

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425.

In a large mixing bowl pour the milk over the bread chunks and let the bread soak; use enough milk to completely saturate the bread without leaving any excess in the bowl.

When you are left with soaked bread add all of the ingredients to the bowl; mix well using your hand. Stop mixing just when the ingredients have come together, you don’t want to over work the meat.

To serve, top on toasted buns with your fav toppings OR… throw back to 2002; serve on a pile of fresh lettuce.

Notes

  1. If you would like to use ground chicken or turkey in place of beef here then omit the egg and cut the seasoning in half.
