Description

A Healthier Cheddar Bay Biscuits recipe… a.k.a. everyone’s fav Red Lobster biscuit recipe 🙂

Ingredients

Scale

2 Cups whole wheat flour

1 tbsp baking powder

1 tbsp (white) sugar

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp cayenne pepper

¼ Cup (salted) butter, melted

1 ¼ Cup low fat (1%) buttermilk

3/4 Cup grated old cheddar cheese

3 Green onions (scallions), sliced

Glaze:

¼ Cup low fat (1%) buttermilk

1 tsp paprika

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425

In a bowl combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper; mix well.

In another (large) bowl whisk together the butter and buttermilk, it may separate but it’s all good.

Pour the flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture and mix until just combined.

Fold in the cheddar and green onions.

Spray a baking sheet lightly with cooking spray and the use a ¼ cup measuring cup to measure out the biscuits; the cup will form the shape of the biscuit too.

Combine the buttermilk and paprika to make the glaze and then brush the glaze onto each biscuit.

Bake the biscuits for 13 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

  1. If you’re not completely convinced about whole wheat flour then use half whole wheat and half white flour.
