Fall off the Bone Pork Ribs

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it here before but my son who’s 10, plays rep basketball 🏀  It’s awesome and he loves it. I can’t believe how much endurance is required to play. It’s a huge time commitment on the part of the players but also their families. We’ve committed all weekends to the team whenever it’s required, for the entire season.

We love it though, it’s the best basketball you’re going to watch!

As a result our social life has taken a back seat. Which is fine, it’s our son.

Our daughter has dance and gymnastics but her schedule is more fixed if that makes sense.

So when I was finally able to host a dinner party I served these ribs. They’re exceptionally delicious and a great make ahead.

The worst thing a host can do is run around the kitchen while their guests sit and watch helplessly while inevitably something goes wrong. Do yourself a favour and make a “make ahead meal” whenever possible.

Our guests were quite pleased with this meal if I may say so myself ☺️

This is how you make Fall off the Bone Pork Ribs

Preheat your oven to 450.

Place the racks on a baking sheet.

Using a sharp knife, score (slash) the membrane that lines the back of the ribs and then season both sides of the ribs liberally with salt and pepper.

Bake for 30 minutes.

Pour the entire contents of one BBQ sauce into a large pot (large enough to hold the ribs after) and then use the BBQ sauce bottle to add 3 bottles of water to the BBQ sauce in the pot; mix well.

Bring the marinade to a boil and then drop it to a simmer.

When the ribs come out of the oven, add them to the pot with the BBQ sauce marinade, completely submerging them in the marinade (you may need to cut the racks in half).   

Add more water as needed to get the ribs covered.  

Bring the pot to a boil and then cover and drop the heat to a simmer. 

Let the pot simmer for 2 ½ hours. – 3 hours.   

At this point, the ribs can be cooled and stored or grilled.

Carefully transfer the ribs to a baking sheet.

Top with more BBQ sauce and bake until the sauce has started to bubble.

If you’re making the ribs ahead of time like I did then coat the ribs with BBQ sauce and reheat at 400 for 20-25 minutes.

Description

An easy recipe for tangy, marinated Pork Ribs that are baked to perfection and guaranteed to fall off the bone!


Ingredients

Scale

23 Racks of pork ribs (usually about 1.5 kg/3 pounds each)

Salt, to taste

Pepper to taste

2 x (425ml – 455 ml) bottles of your favourite BBQ sauce (I use Diana’s Original [12])


Instructions
