Whole wheat bread crumbs

Whole wheat bread crumbs

I ran out of breadcrumbs the other day and there was no way on earth I was going to pack up my 3 month old son to go the store for breadcrumbs!  I got a little creative and did a little research.  I will never buy breadcrumbs again!

Makes 1 cup of unseasoned breadcrumbs

4 slices whole wheat bread (toaster bread)

Preheat your oven to 350

–  Break up the bread into chunks and put in your food processor.

–  Blend the bread until it is broken down into, well, breadcrumbs.

–  Place on a baking sheet in an even layer.

–  Bake the breadcrumbs for 10 minutes, shaking the pan every few minutes.

–  After the breadcrumbs have baked in the oven, let them cool and then break them up with a spatula (although I just did it by hand).

Notes:

  1. This will work with white bread too, but don’t eat white bread!
